GET THE DAILY PRAYERS IN YOUR INBOX
Every day this Lent, we’ll explore the
life and faith of a bearded Catholic saint.
We’ll pray with them, and together we’ll grow in holiness and manliness.
Sign up above to be part of the journey.
FEAST DAY: MARCH 19TH | LIVED: 1ST CENTURY
St Joseph is the man who taught Jesus how not to shave. From the perspective of our Lenten Beards journey this is pretty profound. Joseph is the patron Saint of the Church, families, and workers in general. He is a role model for all men in terms of devotion, patience, love, and care for those that God entrusted to him.
Let us be worthy of the trust placed in us.
Daily Blessing of the Beard
Lord above, bless this beard as it grows from my face.
Let it serve as a reminder that I am yours.
Let it serve as a symbol of my role in your kingdom.
Let it serve as a sign of your blessing in my life.
As I was anointed and claimed for you at my Baptism,
I anoint this beard as a reminder of love.
O blessed Joseph,
Faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ,
Protector of your chaste spouse, the virgin Mother of God,
I choose you this day to be my special patron
And advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life.
Therefore I humbly beseech you to receive me as your client,
To instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction,
To obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus,
And finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death.
