GET THE DAILY PRAYERS IN YOUR INBOX

Every day this Lent, we’ll explore the

life and faith of a bearded Catholic saint.

We’ll pray with them, and together we’ll grow in holiness and manliness.

St. Francis of Assisi

St. Francis of Assisi

FEAST DAY: OCTOBER 4TH | LIVED: 1182–1226

One of the most well know Saints of Church, St. Francis’s life sparked a great reformation in the church. Raised in privilege in the Italian town of Assisi Francis had experienced a radical life change after experiencing the horrors of war. He became a man devoted to prayer, the poor, and above all to preaching the good news of Christ. He founded a religious order that to this day continues to share the gospel with those on the margins of society, and who sport some amazing beards.

“If God can work through me, He can work through anyone.”

Daily Blessing of the Beard

Lord above, bless this beard

As it grows from my face.

Let it serve as a reminder that I am yours.

Let it serve as a symbol of my role in your kingdom.

Let it serve as a sign of your blessing in my life.

As I was anointed and claimed for you at my Baptism,

I anoint this beard as a reminder of love.

Amen.

Today’s Prayer

I beg you, Lord,
let the fiery, gentle power
of your love
take possession of my soul,
and snatch it away
from everything under heaven,
that I may die
for love of your love
as you saw fit to die
for love of mine

Amen.
